Measure a shirt collar that fits you well. Lay collar flat. Measure from center of collar button to far end of opposite buttonhole.
With child's arms down, slip tape under arms and across chest and shoulder blades holding tape firm and level.
Measure around the chest at the fullest point of the bust.
With arm relaxed at your side and slightly bent, measure from center back neck, over point of shoulder, down the outside of the arm to the wrist.
Measure around the natural waistline.
With child standing, measure around fullest point of the seat.
Start by the neck at highest point of the shoulder, then measure down over chest through the crotch and continue up the back to the starting point.
Measure pants that fit child well. Lay them flat with the front and back creased smooth. Measure along the inseam from crotch to bottom of leg hem.
Outseam measurement: This measurement is done with trousers on. Place the measuring tape at the top of the waistband and measure down to the bottom of the ankle.
Trace bare or sock-covered feet, depending on how shoe will be worn, then measure the longest foot from the heel to the longest toe.
